Nvidia Linux Driver 615.78.08 Adds VK_NV_low_latency2 Rev 3 Support

Nvidia's New Feature Branch driver 615.78.08 improves vkd3d-proton latency with Frame Generation and fixes corruption in The Last of Us Part II on Linux.

Nvidia has released Linux driver version 615.78.08 through its New Feature Branch, according to gamingonlinux.com. The update adds support for VK_NV_low_latency2 revision 3, an extension aimed at reducing latency and stutter in games running through vkd3d-proton, particularly when Frame Generation is enabled.

The driver also fixes blocky corruption seen during gameplay in The Last of Us Part II. In addition, it resolves a failure that could occur when allocating GPU page tables larger than 2 GiB, and addresses an issue where unvalidated VkHdrMetadataEXT values were forwarded to the Wayland color-management-v1 protocol, which could cause a crash.

Nvidia has enabled the NVreg_UseKernelSuspendNotifiers=1 option by default in this release.

The update follows a recent Nvidia security issue notice. Driver 615.78.08 is available now from Nvidia's New Feature Branch.
