Samsung division chiefs mark 57th anniversary with competitiveness warnings
Samsung Electronics held no ceremony for its 57th anniversary; its DS and DX heads instead sent messages urging staff to sharpen technology and quality.
Samsung Electronics marked its 57th anniversary on October 30 with separate messages from the heads of its DS and DX divisions instead of a ceremony, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun, who leads the DS division, told employees it is time to coldly review the company's reality and competitiveness rather than celebrate results driven by AI. He called for strengthening fundamental competitiveness through technology and quality, next-generation technology leadership, and manufacturing efficiency, quality and yield improvement. Jeon described the division's working values as customers, technology, collaboration, execution and ethics.
President Noh Tae-moon, head of the DX division, said the division faces difficult conditions as competition in AI devices intensifies and prices keep rising on surging AI semiconductor demand.
Noh pointed to intelligent eyewear, AI companion devices and home entertainment AI TV as new product success cases to continue, and named robots, air conditioning, medtech and automotive electronics as new businesses.
