Samsung, SK, Hyundai, LG plan 2027 appointments

South Korea's four largest business groups have started drawing up business plans and executive appointments for 2027, with future core businesses such as AI and semiconductors at the center, according to etnews.com.

Samsung Electronics, SK, Hyundai Motor Group and LG are expected to emphasize continuity and execution of future core strategies rather than abrupt change in this year's appointments. Samsung is weighing organizational changes in its Device Solutions (DS) division and stronger future competitiveness in its Device Experience (DX) division.

Possible Samsung moves include ending the dual role of division heads Jeon Young-hyun and Roh Tae-moon as heads of business units, and appointing robotics specialists within the DX division. The company plans to refine its 2027 business strategy at a December global strategy meeting after the executive appointments.

SK Group is expected to carry out its executive appointments on the 29th of this month. In October 2025, SK hynix subsidiary Solidigm announced on the 23rd that it was halting its review of an IPO. Hyundai Motor Group has finished performance evaluations of executives at its affiliates and is coordinating its regular personnel plan, considering key personnel in North American production, purchasing and logistics roles and in software-defined vehicles, physical AI and robotics.

LG Group has been reviewing next year's investment and business plans through business reports at all affiliates since the 19th and plans regular personnel appointments next month. The group is expected to focus talent recruitment and reorganization on AI data centers, physical AI and AI transformation.
