Uber rolls out ChatGPT Work to 30,000 employees

The company-wide expansion follows a pilot with about 1,000 staff, most of them outside engineering, according to Uber's Sumanth Sukumar.

Uber is rolling out OpenAI's ChatGPT Work to more than 30,000 employees worldwide, expanding the enterprise AI tool from a pilot to a company-wide deployment, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.

The rollout follows an earlier trial with about 1,000 employees. Uber's vice president of engineering, Sumanth Sukumar, said around 80% of the early pilot users were non-engineering staff.

During the pilot, employees used ChatGPT Work to analyze operational data, localize training materials by market and language, and build custom conversational dashboards.

Uber will let each team experiment freely rather than mandating a single usage policy across the company. The company did not disclose the cost of the deployment and said it plans to track usage and efficiency results.

Enterprise push

ChatGPT Work was introduced by OpenAI in July 2026 as an AI agent designed for enterprise tasks, putting it in competition with Anthropic and other vendors in the corporate AI market.
