Musk says X will let users long-press like to send $1 via X Money

The payment feature would run on X Money, but X has not said when it will launch or whether recipients need an X Money account.

Elon Musk said X will add a feature that lets users send someone 1 dollar by long-pressing the like button, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The X CEO did not give a launch date for the feature.

The transfer is expected to be built on X Money, X's payments service. It remains unclear whether the money could be sent only to the author of the post being liked, and X has not confirmed whether recipients must also hold an X Money account.

X Money does not currently support Bitcoin, Dogecoin or stablecoins, and does not process on-chain payments, so the 1 dollar transfer would not run on crypto rails as things stand.

X Money launched in the US on July 27 for Premium and Premium+ subscribers, with up to 6% annual yield on deposits and a Visa debit card. From September 23, US users without a paid plan could also use the service.

In April, US Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote to Musk raising concerns about consumer protections and financial stability at X Money, and asking whether X planned to issue a payment stablecoin. X had reportedly not answered the inquiry by the time the service launched in July.
