1666: Amsterdam Devs Build 15 to 20 Builds a Day in Early Access
The lead developer of 1666: Amsterdam says the team produces 15 to 20 builds daily as the Steam Early Access title moves toward its full launch.
The lead developer of 1666: Amsterdam has said the team creates between 15 and 20 builds a day. The game is currently in Steam Early Access and is working toward its full release.
Since entering early access, the developers have released two major updates. The second of those updates contained over 200 fixes.
The game's Steam page states that the process to complete 1666: Amsterdam is expected to take approximately one year, with multiple major updates adding new content at regular intervals.
Background
The project was first thought of in 2011 and began development at THQ in 2013. Ubisoft later bought the studio and acquired the rights to the game, then fired lead director Patrice Désilets. Following legal proceedings, Désilets acquired the rights to 1666: Amsterdam. The game launched into Steam Early Access in August. Earlier this year, AI-generated assets were discovered in the game's demo; the developers apologised and committed to removing all AI-generated content ahead of release. Désilets told GamesRadar+ earlier this year that the tech was used in conception and pre-production but that the team won't be using any AI anymore.
