Cliff Richard Thought GTA Was a TV Game Show Before GTA VI Sync
The singer, whose 1976 track "Devil Woman" features in GTA VI: An Extended Look, said he had believed the franchise was a television game show.
Cliff Richard told The Times he believed the Grand Theft Auto franchise was a TV game show, despite his 1976 song "Devil Woman" featuring in Rockstar Games' GTA VI: An Extended Look presentation. In the interview, Richard asked whether the series was one of the biggest shows on television.
The presentation streamed on Netflix and used "Devil Woman" on its soundtrack. According to a report covered by comingsoon.net, the track rose from about 96,000 weekly streams to more than 1 million in the week of the presentation.
Richard also gained 230,501 monthly Spotify listeners in the week after the presentation, a 12.5% increase that took his total to roughly 2.07 million. He said people would no longer simply say he is from the past.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The previous mainline entry, Grand Theft Auto V, launched in 2013.
