Nintendo Names November 1 Pikmin Day, Sets Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition for November 12
The Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4 adds a Dandori Academy mode that uses the console's built-in microphone to give Oatchi voice commands.
Nintendo announced a surprise Nintendo Direct on October 31, 2026, during which Shigeru Miyamoto said November 1 will be known as Pikmin Day starting this year, according to Kotaku. The presentation also covered a Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 and new content for the mobile game Pikmin Bloom.
The Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 launches on November 12. It uses the console's built-in microphone to give Oatchi vocal commands, and adds an exclusive mode called Dandori Academy, a timed treasure rush. A demo of Dandori Academy will be available on Monday, ahead of the November 12 launch.
Pikmin Bloom, the mobile game, is adding caves. Miyamoto also introduced actress and Pikmin ambassador Fuka Koshiba during the broadcast.
The Direct ended with a new animated Pikmin short, and the shorts will become a monthly occurrence.
From GameCube to Switch 2
The original Pikmin was released on the GameCube in the fall of 2001. The series now spans console entries and a mobile game.
