Ocarina of Time Remake Cuts Ganondorf Blood From Defeat Scene

Players found the Switch remake's post-fight cutscene removes the blood Ganondorf coughs up and the blood from Link's final slashes.

Players have found that the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time alters the scene that follows the penultimate fight with Ganondorf, removing the blood he coughs up, according to gamerant.com. The final blow against Ganon has also been changed: the multiple slashes Link delivered, and the blood they drew, are gone.

In the remake, Ganondorf falls to one knee and delivers his lines in a fully voiced cutscene. The release launched on November 5, 2026.

The change continues a history that goes back to the original Nintendo 64 release, in which Ganondorf coughed up blood after his defeat. Later printings of the Nintendo 64 cartridge turned that blood green, and the 2011 Nintendo 3DS release Ocarina of Time 3D kept the altered version.

Other Nintendo Cuts

Nintendo has made similar adjustments to other titles. Dispatch drew controversy earlier in 2026 over censorship in its Nintendo Switch version, and a later update restored some but not all of the original content. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore censored revealing outfits and dialogue for its western release, changes carried over to the Switch port in Japan, while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate changed existing character designs and removed blood associated with characters such as Bayonetta and Persona 5's Joker. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also had a gesture that could be considered obscene removed.
