Selaco: The Machines of War Update Adds Chapter 2 on November 13

Altered Orbit Studios says the update brings 19 new campaign maps, a rewritten enemy AI and a heavy ordnance system, and breaks old saves.

Altered Orbit Studios has announced Selaco: The Machines of War, an update that adds Chapter 2 to Selaco and doubles the size of the game, according to pcgamer.com. It launches on November 13.

Chapter 2 packs 19 new campaign maps, which the studio describes as 6-8 hours of additional content. The arsenal grows with a minigun and a heavy machine gun that fires literal explosions, plus deployable weapons including mini-turrets and sentinel drones. A heavy ordnance system lets players pick up and use large disposable weapons found on the battlefield.

The enemy AI has been rewritten almost entirely from scratch, adding a rally system and NPC area patrolling. Chapter 1 also receives an overhaul, with improved set pieces and new surprises.

Other changes in the update include a new lighting system, overhauled particle effects, new voice lines, better controls and new music. Altered Orbit Studios has warned that old saves will be incompatible with the new version.

Background

Selaco launched into Steam early access in 2024. The game is built in the Doom engine and inspired by FEAR, Half-Life and System Shock.
