Dawn of War 4 devs chose Adeptus Mechanicus over Death Guard
King Art's creative director said Death Guard and Leagues of Votann were considered as playable factions before Adeptus Mechanicus was picked.
King Art considered the Death Guard and the Leagues of Votann as possible playable factions in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 before settling on the Adeptus Mechanicus, the game's creative director Jan Theysen said, according to TechRadar.
The game will have four separate faction campaigns: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and Adeptus Mechanicus. Theysen said the four-faction structure was the first thing the team decided.
He said the Adeptus Mechanicus was chosen because it is fast, has strong ranged firepower and feels different from the other factions. The Death Guard, by contrast, is a relatively slow army that would have felt similar to the Space Marines and Necrons.
Theysen also said the Necrons were included partly because they had been promised for Dawn of War 3 but never appeared in that game.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 is set to release on December 3.
