Lee Child Told Andrew Child to Modernize Reacher's Tech Habits
The series creator said his brother's tech-industry background made him suited to fix Reacher's increasingly implausible distance from technology.
Lee Child said he instructed his brother Andrew Child to make Jack Reacher's relationship with technology more plausible, in an exclusive interview with Collider tied to the release of Chain Reaction, the latest novel in the series.
Child described Reacher's detachment from technology as having become almost absurd, calling it grotesque. The aim, he said, was not to have the character embrace smartphones, but to nudge him forward so that he remains believable on the subject.
According to Child, Andrew Child's experience working in the technology industry made him well suited to address the issue.
Chain Reaction is the latest Jack Reacher novel. Lee Child created the character and now shares writing duties with his brother, who is the series' current writer.
