Ineya unveils AI Ring with screen and joystick, priced from $399
The smart ring records voice memos, takes AI agent commands and controls apps; pre-orders open November 6 ahead of January 2027 shipping.
Hardware startup Ineya has unveiled the AI Ring, a smart ring equipped with a small screen, a joystick and a microphone, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The device is priced at $399 during early sales and rises to $499 once the early-buying period ends.
Pre-orders open on November 6, with shipping planned for January 2027. The microphone allows wearers to record voice memos, issue commands to AI agents and set notifications, and it supports voice input on macOS through Whisper Flow or the company's own dictation engine.
The ring's screen displays smartphone notifications and information about the app currently being controlled, while a built-in speaker lets users take calls with the device on their finger. Joystick and gesture inputs trigger different commands depending on the state of the macOS or smartphone screen, and the ring can manage music playback or smart-home devices such as Apple TV.
TechCrunch, which tested the device, described the AI Ring as feeling like a ring-shaped smartwatch with more controls, and said some software and features still need improvement. Its Apple TV control was presented as a fallback for when the remote is missing rather than a full replacement.
Earlier work and a crowded field
Ineya previously introduced Mirage, a controller that changes button functions based on the state of apps on the Mac screen, such as controlling the camera and microphone or ending a call during a Google Meet session.
Similar smart rings including Pebble Index 01, Sandbar Stream, Oasis and Natura are already on the market, while OpenAI's experimental keyboard and Rabbit's control device are other attempts to build new interfaces between AI and users.
