SpaceX Debuts Grok Voice Model; Starlink Handles 20,000 Calls a Day

About 70% of Starlink customer calls handled by the Grok voice agent are resolved without a human, SpaceX said, without detailing which languages it supports.

SpaceX unveiled a new Grok voice model this week and said Starlink's call center already uses the conversational AI in live operations, according to Business Insider. The agent handles about 20,000 customer calls per day.

Roughly 70% of those calls are resolved without a human agent, the company said. SpaceX stated that the voice agent performs its tasks in multiple languages.

The Grok voice agent covers customer verification, Starlink hardware troubleshooting, issuing credits and shipping replacement equipment, according to SpaceX.

SpaceX did not answer Business Insider's questions about which languages Grok supports or which call types still require human agents.

Starlink says it currently has more than 6 million active customers worldwide. In July 2025, OpenAI released GPT-Live-1 with call capability, and Google also released a similar enterprise system, while Meta's Muse can handle phone support for beta feature users.
