Tmap adds real-time red-line display for closed roads

Tmap Mobility said the navigation app now factors live road closures into route guidance and corrects organiser data using CCTV checks.

Tmap Mobility announced on November 1, 2026 that its Tmap navigation app has added a real-time controlled-zone line display feature, which draws closed road sections as red dotted lines on the map, according to techm.kr.

The feature covers closures linked to marathons, festivals, protests and traffic accidents. Tmap also factors the restricted roads into route search, excluding them from suggested routes and updating the map quickly once a restriction is lifted.

The company said the display relies on splitting roads into fine segments, known as "map links", so that long closures or ones spanning several roads can be drawn accurately.

Tmap Mobility operates a 24-hour monitoring system that collects closure schedules from government offices, police and event organisers and verifies sites through CCTV. On the morning of November 1, during the Seoul Marathon, the company corrected closure information for the section from Yanghwa-ro 3-gil to the Gangbyeon Expressway entry after CCTV showed the road was impassable, contrary to the organisers' data.
