Major Sites Block AI Agents From Meta, OpenAI, xAI

Yelp, Delta, JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab are among the sites restricting AI agents, while Amazon says Meta's Muse violates its policies.

Several major websites and companies are blocking AI agents built by Meta, OpenAI, xAI and Instinct from carrying out tasks on their platforms, according to The Verge. Yelp and Delta Air Lines are among the sites preventing agents from completing actions such as booking tickets.

JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab confirmed they block AI agents from accessing accounts over security concerns. Users also report that Cars.com and Amtrak, which previously worked with their AI agents, are no longer accessible.

Amazon said Meta's Muse violates its site policies through its continued access, and reports say xAI's Grok, Instinct's agent and OpenAI's Dots also cannot use Amazon.

Meta said it has partnered with retailers including Walmart, Gap, Sephora and Best Buy so Muse can shop on their sites, while Shopify has opened its network of storefronts to AI agents. Even so, users on Reddit report Google blocking some accounts using Muse for suspicious activity, and others report checkout issues on Walmart despite the Meta partnership.

Earlier action against Perplexity

Last year, Amazon banned Perplexity's agentic shopping feature and sued the AI startup. A judge ordered Perplexity to stop its AI agents from shopping on Amazon's website, and an appeals court overturned that ruling in August. Amazon has since filed an amended complaint against Perplexity. Earlier this month, Meta published a post responding to websites blocking Muse.
