Wisenut advances multimodal RAG, runs trials in four sectors
Wisenut entered the third year of an IITP-backed multimodal RAG project and is testing the technology in legal, media, medical and manufacturing settings.
Wisenut announced on 21 October 2026 that it is advancing its retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology in the third year of a multimodal data input-based project overseen by IITP under the Ministry of Science and ICT, according to datanet.co.kr.
The company is running field trials of the multimodal RAG technology in four sectors: legal, media and advertising, medical and manufacturing. The trial partners are Ansam in legal, SBSi in media and advertising, Chonnam National University Hospital in medical and JB Corporation in manufacturing.
In its third-year research, Wisenut is upgrading the technology developed in the second year so information can be retrieved accurately from real work environments that mix documents, images and video.
Metadata, graphs and hybrid search
The work covers metadata auto-extraction and expansion using an ontology-based knowledge graph, graph-based data management linked to RAG, and multimodal query vector generation that combines text, image and voice queries. Wisenut is also enhancing hybrid keyword, vector and graph search and developing context-retention technology that reflects prior conversation.
Wisenut said it plans to apply the multimodal RAG technology sequentially to its own AI agents to strengthen their domain-specific performance.
The project is carried out by a consortium led by Wisenut, with Sejong University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Miso Information Technology and KETI taking part. It runs for four years through December 2027.
