Zoom unveils Unified Context Layer and new AI features at Zoomtopia 2026
Zoom's new layer links meeting, call and chat records to documents and external app activity, with access set by administrator policies.
Zoom Communications introduced its Unified Context Layer and a slate of new AI products and features at its annual customer event, Zoomtopia 2026, according to venturesquare.net. The layer connects conversation records from Zoom meetings, calls and chats with related documents, data and activity from external applications, with access to that information governed by administrator-set policies.
Several meeting features are scheduled for rollout over the coming months. My Notes Workflows, which turns meeting summaries into follow-up tasks in tools such as Zoom Chat or Salesforce, is due in October. Enriched Notes, which links slides, charts and chat shared during a meeting to the matching points in the transcript, arrives in November, and Follow the Meeting, which gives personalized transcripts and summaries to users who missed a session or attended only part of it, is due in December.
ZoomMate Agent Teams, in which multiple AI agents divide roles and work together, is available now. A new Zoom Chat experience that lets AI agents take part directly in chats under administrator policies is planned for December. On the developer side, Zoom is offering MCP servers and search and query APIs so outside AI environments including Claude, GPT, Codex, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini can query information in the Unified Context Layer. The API and some MCP servers are available now, with external AI assistant integration and natural-language administrator tasks due in October.
The company said customer count for its AI customer-service solution, Zoom Virtual Agent, grew 256%. Other items on the roadmap include Customer Profiles, CX Insights Transcript Intelligence and an AI kiosk agent for in-store customer requests, all due in November, and a Live Meeting AI Agent that answers questions and helps run meetings, targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
Zoom also outlined a Voice Translator that reproduces the speaker's synthesized voice, with camera gaze correction and real-time voice and intonation correction to follow, and said Content Studio converts recorded video into content in multiple languages and formats. On governance, the company plans AI Guardrails, Deepfake Risk Detection and centralized administrator controls for AI features, while an integration with Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels is available to some customers now.
CEO Eric Yuan said understanding business context is what makes the difference for AI models, and that the Unified Context Layer builds a System of Action connecting conversations to completed work.
