Lawyer: AI-Generated Game Milestone Rejected and Unpaid
IP lawyer Haley MacLean said a contractor delivered a broken milestone made with generative AI, then asked for full payment after refusing revisions.
Game lawyer Haley MacLean, IP lawyer and head of the video game practice at Voyer Law, has described an anonymized case in which a programming contractor delivered a broken milestone made entirely with generative AI, according to GamesRadar+.
When the client requested revisions, the contractor said he could not make them and asked for full payment. The contractor did not receive payment, and the client's time was wasted.
MacLean said the contractor also breached confidentiality by putting confidential game information into the AI tool.
She added that she is seeing more clients include anti-AI clauses in contracts and that she recommends such protection.
