Horror game Listeners demo lets viewers type orders to a streamer
In the demo, players type instructions or pick cards to guide SIA, a streamer with about 10 listeners, through the in-game title Backroom Run.
A demo version of the horror game Listeners is now being distributed, the game's camp has announced. Players take the role of viewers watching a low-tier streamer named SIA who plays the in-game title Backroom Run.
SIA has only around 10 listeners. Players give her instructions either by typing directly into the chat or by choosing cards, and she may miss an order, wander in an odd direction or freeze at key moments.
Her lines can be generated in real time by an AI language model as an optional feature; the game can also be played entirely with pre-prepared lines.
Items only count if SIA escapes alive
Items picked up inside Backroom Run become the player's only if SIA escapes alive. If she dies, only about one or two items remain in the bag, and the bag's small capacity forces players to choose what to keep. Collected items can be used to strengthen SIA.
The Steam description includes an ominous line suggesting Backroom Run may not be just a game file.
