Sony Q2: PlayStation Users Rise 2 Million as Digital Sales Grow
Sony's fiscal second-quarter data shows PlayStation monthly active users up 2 million, with Marvel's Wolverine leading software at 2.4 million units.
Sony released official financial data for its fiscal second quarter, reporting that monthly active users on PlayStation rose by 2 million compared with the previous quarter, according to polygon.com.
Digital sales rose by ¥138.8 billion, or ¥158.7 billion including add-ons — about $996.2 million at the quarter's average conversion rate. Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games led the quarter with 2.4 million units sold.
The results follow the PlayStation Digital Blackout protest, which ran from August 23 to August 30, when players pledged to avoid in-game purchases, digital game purchases and PlayStation Plus renewals after Sony announced it would discontinue physical media.
Sony has said it will stop disc production in January 2028. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on November 19, and its physical edition does not contain a disc.
