SpendenLMS Shows Audi R8 LMS GT3 Simulator at Sim Racing Expo
The simulator, built over three years from a damaged Audi R8 LMS GT3 chassis and parts from eight cars, raises money for Herzkind e.V.
SpendenLMS exhibited a racing simulator built from a damaged Audi R8 LMS GT3 chassis at the Sim Racing Expo in Frankfurt, where it was shown at the CONSPIT stand. The project raises money for Herzkind e.V., a charity supporting people and families affected by congenital heart conditions, according to wccftech.com.
The build took about three years and combined parts from eight different cars. The original steering wheel, dashboard and pedals were modified with sensors, microcontrollers and custom electronics to work with the simulation software.
The game is projected onto the car's blacked-out windscreen with a 4K display system at 60 frames per second. Speakers were placed inside the cockpit to amplify the audio.
Money received for taking the simulator to events is donated to Herzkind e.V.
