STALKER 2 update 2.1 widens A-Life simulation range
GSC Game World's patch 2.1 adds A-Life distance settings and lets players tag along with roaming stalkers as mobile fast travel points.
GSC Game World released update 2.1 for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl on October 27, 2026, according to Rock Paper Shotgun. The patch adds options that increase the distance at which A-Life NPCs are simulated and visualized.
The update also adjusts audio so distant NPC firefights can be heard from further away. Separately, players can now tag along with roaming stalkers, turning them into mobile fast travel points that follow their patrol routes.
The game and an accompanying blog post warn that pushing the A-Life distance above the default "Recommended" setting may bring lower framerates, instability in story quests and crashes. Rock Paper Shotgun tested on an RTX 4060 at 1080p with DLSS Quality and the High preset, averaging 93fps on Recommended, an unchanged figure on Extended, and 91fps on the Highly Extended, Maximum and Dynamic settings.
The A-Life setting also appears to affect the range at which faction markers show up on binoculars, and the Maximum option appeared to increase binocular zoom.
Earlier A-Life work
Patch 2.0 had previously brought A-Life improvements and functional fog to the game, which launched with a bug-ridden period behind it.
