Warlock's Open World Is Small and Dense by Design, Says Invoke Studios
Invoke Studios head Dominic Guay says Warlock's open world is smaller than most open-world RPGs so the team can cut back on handholding.
Invoke Studios head Dominic Guay has explained that Warlock's open world is smaller than those of most open-world RPGs, according to Edge. Guay said the studio deliberately made the world denser in order to reduce handholding.
He added that the game is exploration-driven and that players are not meant to simply follow a waypoint to their next objective.
Guay also said Warlock's magic system offers a real-time expression of magic.

Warlock was first unveiled last year by Wizards of the Coast as a new open-world game featuring Tasha. In August, 10 minutes of Warlock gameplay, described as Dragon's Dogma-esque, were shown.
The developers have said their virtual Dungeons & Dragons experience is very different from Larian's Baldur's Gate 3, which is not open world and has been described as perhaps the best D&D experience to date.
