Airbnb to launch AI travel agent in first half of 2027

Airbnb detailed the agent in its Q3 shareholder letter, saying it will build interfaces from travel-specific components and help guests mid-trip.

Airbnb announced on Thursday that its AI travel agent will launch in the first half of 2027, according to a company statement detailed in its Q3 shareholder letter and reported by TechCrunch.

The agent builds an interface from hundreds of travel-specific components, including maps, photos, comparisons, calendars and itineraries. Airbnb said it will assist guests during trips, handling tasks such as changing reservations, resolving payment issues, refunds, rebooking and 24-hour safety support.

Airbnb plans to expand the agent to services and experiences over time. The company had previously teased plans to build its own AI travel agent, and in an interview last month, CEO Brian Chesky said chatbots are not the right interface for travel and that people enjoy planning trips.

Airbnb redesigned its platform last year, making services and experiences a bigger focus. The company previously said to expect its AI agent sometime in the next year.

Airbnb reported Q3 revenue growth of 19% to $4.87 billion and raised its 2026 revenue growth forecast to the high teens from the mid-teens.
