Cisco Adds Dialog AI Agent Framework to Webex
Cisco's new Dialog toolset lets AI agents handle customer interactions and keep working after a conversation ends, alongside a Webex update for inviting agents into meetings.
Cisco announced Dialog, a new agentic framework for its Webex cloud collaboration platform, according to Engadget. The company also introduced an updated version of Webex that allows anyone in a workspace to invite AI agents directly into spaces, meetings and calls.
Dialog is described as an agentic harness that directs AI to handle customer interactions, coordinating agents across people, other agents and backend systems. According to Cisco, agents built on Dialog can continue working on the customer's behalf after a conversation has ended.
The Webex update extends that idea to the workspace itself: users can pull AI agents into meetings and calls to carry out multi-step work both across the platform and inside third-party applications. Cisco says the experience is safety-forward through Splunk, the data analysis platform it acquired a few years ago.
The push toward agentic tools comes as studies raise questions about their reliability on multi-step work. In October 2025, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University found that even the best-performing AI agent at the time, Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro, failed to complete real-world office tasks 70 percent of the time. Multiple studies have indicated AI agents fail multi-step tasks between 60 and 70 percent of the time.
