CXMT to Launch DDR5 RDIMM Server Memory Using 4F² DRAM by Year-End

The Chinese chipmaker says it has secured more than 300 published patents tied to its 4F² structure and will ship the server module by the end of 2026.

CXMT plans to release a server memory product called DDR5 RDIMM built on its 4F² DRAM technology by the end of this year, the company said. The announcement was reported by inews24.com.

CXMT President Cao Kanwei unveiled the development results for the 4F² DRAM structure at the 4th Integrated Circuit and Chiplet Conference in Shanghai. According to the company, the 4F² structure uses its own vertical surrounding gate (VSG) transistor technology, and CXMT said it has secured more than 300 published patents related to 4F².

The planned product is a server memory module, a segment where Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and Micron hold the leading positions. In second-quarter global DRAM revenue share, Samsung Electronics ranked first with 39.4%, SK hynix had 24.9%, Micron had 23.3%, and CXMT ranked fourth with 9.5%, according to TrendForce.

Competitors' 4F² Work

Other memory makers have presented their own 4F² research. In February, Samsung Electronics presented research results on a 16Gb DRAM prototype using a 4F² structure and wafer-to-wafer hybrid bonding at ISSCC 2026. In June 2025, SK hynix presented 4F² vertical gate (VG) structure and 3D DRAM as next-generation technology directions at VLSI 2025.
