Hyundai Unveils 5th-Generation Tucson Tech Details at Goyang Event

Hyundai detailed the new Tucson's hybrid system, 245-horsepower output, and redesigned side-panel stamping at its Tech & Experience Day.

Hyundai Motor held "The All-New Tucson Tech & Experience Day" at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang on the 7th, presenting the key technologies and development background of the fifth-generation Tucson, according to inews24.com.

The new Tucson reflects Hyundai's design philosophy "Art of Steel." For the side panels, the company applied a new stamping method that draws the steel sheet in multiple directions and completes the shape in stages, and it introduced a "unit cam" in the hemming process. Hood forming analysis was conducted more than five times that of other models.

The next-generation hybrid system combines two motors with different roles. Its maximum output is 245 horsepower, and combined fuel efficiency is 17.4 km per liter based on 17-inch wheels and two-wheel drive. The gasoline model replaced the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai excluded V2L from the vehicle due to price considerations and applied "door unlock power dualization" for the first time. The company stated that parts unit prices did not rise at all.

Background

The Tucson is Hyundai Motor Group's first SUV to surpass 10 million cumulative global sales, and Hyundai analyzed 22 years of sales data to understand customer preferences.
