SK Telecom launches AX Innovation 2.0 to rebuild work around AI
The telecom said more than 4,000 employees have built AI agents, with about 1,500 in regular company use.
SK Telecom announced on November 1 that it will pursue “AX Innovation 2.0,” an initiative that redesigns company-wide work processes and collaboration around AI. The company said the program rests on two directions: “from individual to organization” and “from convenience to practical use.”
According to digitaltoday.co.kr, more than 4,000 SK Telecom employees have built AI agents, and about 1,500 AI agents are used regularly inside the company.
The initiative will run through three programs. AX Enabler TF tackles company-wide issues in data access, security and system integration, and will introduce an employee-ID system for AI agents along with an evaluation framework. AX Sandbox takes an experiment in which a single employee handles planning, development and validation with AI agents and extends it from service development teams to the entire company in the second half of the year. AX Catalyst supports employees who lead AI adoption; the 10 first-generation catalysts chosen in September share their AI agents and experiences and flag technical and institutional obstacles.
Data protection and work mapping
SK Telecom has filed a patent for “Z.E.Z (Zero Exposure Zone),” which processes work without exposing sensitive original data to AI, passing only metadata and computed results. The company also built “Data Desk,” which automatically generates descriptions and business context for data so AI agents can interpret it.
Separately, SK Telecom is pursuing “Work Map,” which maps organizational work flows and identifies tasks suitable for AI, with the aim of setting standard procedures for humans and AI working together.
In the first half of 2026, the company ran an experiment in service development organizations in which one employee handled planning, development and validation together with AI agents.
