Only 15 percent of respondents in Japan said they want items bought online delivered the same day, the lowest share among eight countries surveyed by Statista, according to internet.watch.impress.co.jp. The survey results were published on October 30, 2026.
The survey covered eight countries, with between 1,700 and 8,600 respondents aged 18 to 64 per country. Japan was the only Asian country included.
Same-day delivery demand was markedly higher elsewhere in the survey: in five of the eight countries, 30 percent or more of respondents said they want same-day delivery.
Statista did not establish correlations between same-day delivery demand and factors such as land area or population.
In an earlier Statista survey, consumers were found to want free and fast delivery for online shopping.
