Roughly 50 Firms See Little Commerce From AI Shopping Agents

DoorDash counts agent orders in the "hundreds" and T-Mobile reports nothing significant, even as Meta says Muse passed 10 million activations.

Executives at roughly 50 companies across travel, internet providers, food and self-storage said they have seen little immediate disruption from AI shopping agents, according to wired.com. Among them, DoorDash described the number of orders coming from Meta's Muse and other agents as in the "hundreds".

T-Mobile said it has not seen anything of significance from AI agents. Hilton called bookings from AI agents insignificant. Ally Financial characterized agent-driven activity as quite low, and eBay called it very, very small. Life Time Group said it has seen zero membership cancellations caused by AI agents, and Indian delivery app Eternal estimated agentic commerce at close to zero.

The accounts contrast with Meta's own figures. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said more than 10 million people in the US and Canada had activated Muse, with over 25 percent using it for shopping. Meta pointed to partnerships with 10 retailers, including Walmart, Best Buy and Gap, to simplify shopping with Muse.

Early gains at some retailers

Chipotle chief digital officer Arlie Sisson said Muse's debut raised agentic orders by a single-digit percentage, and that the chain is now tidying up its website code for agents. Costco and Extra Space Storage said sales from chatbots such as Gemini and ChatGPT are surging and that they plan to optimize for AI agents too.

Zuckerberg said Meta plans to charge businesses a fee for transactions facilitated by Muse and predicted it could eventually top advertising revenue. InterContinental Hotels CEO Elie Maalouf said the company has not reached conclusions on a possible collaboration with Meta.

Bank of America warned customers this week about sharing login credentials with AI assistants. Amazon, which blocked Muse in September 2026, said this week it anticipates working with outside AI agents.
